Let him kiss me (2006)—soprano and piano (5:00)
This is one of my most recent completed works. It is a setting of portions of the Song of Songs (Song of Solomon) from the Old Testament. It will be premiered in London in the Spring of 2007. It is a part of a projected larger work for tenor and soprano, including My Beloved Spake (below).

This is a setting from the Song of Songs (Song of Solomon). See notes above.
|
Alone (2001)—mezzo-soprano and piano (2:30)
This is a rather creepy setting of a creepy poem by Poe. The poem speaks of a trouble childhood. The work uses an expressionistic harmonic language.
|
Time Passes (2001)—mezzo-soprano and piano (3:30)
This brief song is a setting of the English translation of a Haiku by Emperor Wu. It speaks of the the fleeting nature of our lives.
|
Madisong (1999)—medium voice and piano (2:30)
I wrote this song for my niece Madison, on her third birthday. The text is by me.
|

This set of three songs takes poems from the book The Cat Walked Through the Casserole by Marilyn Nelson and Pamela Espeland. The songs are Nose Pickers, Thomas Has a Girlfriend, and If I Could Do Whatever I Wanted.
